Unknown Awakenings

The white dragon steadily navigated through the tunnels, observing the plight of Ella and Leila. He easily predicted their movements, as well as the movements of the dragon vermin that followed them. With an exact understanding of the underground labyrinth, the white dragon had an advantage over the others.

Then discovering a tyrn with the humans surprised the white dragon. He knew about tyrns but had never seen one.

“Why is a tyrn here? In the valley? What is their kind doing with humans? Have their kingdoms united? Are tyrns aware of our plans? The summoning never spoke of these humans or a Tyrn. They would tell me. They must not see, they must not know. Or is the order withholding knowledge?”

The white dragon growled. The Order never understood his abilities and powers.

“The tyrn is a potential danger. A powerful warrior. He will be easy to destroy.”

The white dragon continued his steady travel through the many underground corridors and tunnels. As he heard a large amount of commotion, he found a location overlooking the humans attempting to escape the dragon warriors. He watched as the girls and the tyrn ran from the oncoming horde of battle dragons. The white dragon wanted to see how the humans fought against the mutations, fascinated by their fear of the weak dragon vermin. He watched as they attempted to climb down a wall of fallen debris.

“Why does the girl not use her magic to save them?”

He watched as a large column crashed into the wall, throwing the humans and the Tyrn from their stable location. The white dragon smiled, watching their desperation and fear as they fought for their lives. Eventually, the humans could no longer hold on, falling one by one into the darkness below.

“My work may be easier than—”

The white dragon jumped, seeing the massive Ruundyr leap up the debris wall to fight the pursing horde of battle dragons.

“How is this possible? Where did that monster come from? They should have all been killed. They were part of the cleanse. The vermin could not create it. How did it survive? Is this what I felt? Is this monster’s magic what I felt? No, that’s impossible. It’s something new.”

The white dragon stared at the scene as Rune efficiently ended the fight with the battle dragons.

“That monster does not deserve to live.”

The white dragon growled, narrowing his eyes and furrowing his brow.

“These dragon vermin. They think they know power. They play with magic they don’t understand. I will obliterate them, and any army they think they have. Their foolish mistakes put my plans at risk. If the Great One does not trust me, he does not know me. The Oder did not report of these events. The Order doesn’t know! How could they? These events follow no prophesy.”

The white dragon held still filled with anger.

“My directive. I will comply. But I must learn more. I must know more about the girl. I must know why this monster returned. I must know more about this awakening.”
